2026 Exhibition Details

Glen Eira U3A Open Days & Art Exhibition – Open to the public & all welcome

  • When: Saturday 4 July – Tuesday 7 July 2026
  • Hours: 10 am – 4 pm
  • Where: Glen Eira U3A, 1151 Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly (entry via Woolworths carpark off Manchester Grove)
  • Art Exhibition Categories:
    • Painting: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Gouache, Pastel, and Mixed Media.
    • Collage, Drawing, Doodling, Ceramics, Fiber Art, Sculpture, 3D Printing, and “Other.”
  • Opening Ceremony: Sunday 5 July 2026
    • 11:00am: Official Opening by Glen Eira Mayor, Cr Dr Simone Zmood.
    • Opening Ceremony: Prize presentations by Elizabeth Moore Golding, David Southwick MP and Caulfield Candidate Mikaela Stafrace.
    • 11:30am – Morning tea
    • 12:15pm: Artist Presentation: “About face: making a portrait” by Elizabeth Moore Golding.

Submitting Artwork

Who can submit an entry? Members currently enrolled in an art or craft course can submit a maximum of three artworks for consideration. These must be the original work of the member and the artworks were made in a U3A class in the last two years, some exceptions may be considered on a case by case basis. An effort will be made to display all artworks submitted but this is not guaranteed.
Note: all artworks must remain on display for the full duration of the exhibition.

Is there a registration Fee? No

What Media can be exhibited? Eligible media include:

  • Painting: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Gouache, Pastel, and Mixed Media.
  • Other Media: Collage, Drawing, Doodling, Ceramics, Fiber Art, Sculpture, 3D Printing, Knitting, and “Other.”

How many entries? Each member is limited to three entries, although this may be adjusted based on the volume of submissions received.

How do you register your artwork? Artwork registration will be conducted online through a registration link for all members enrolled in art and craft classes. Here is the link to register your artwork:

We anticipate that most members have a relative or a fellow U3A member who can assist them with the registration if needed.
Alternatively, you can collect a registration form from reception, fill it out, and return it as soon as possible. If you register manually, you must also email a photo of each artwork to us separately.

The registration form also allows you to nominate if you wish to place your artwork for sale.
A pricelist will be drafted and it will be the responsibility of the artist to liaise with the potential purchaser.

Registration period: from Monday 18/5/2026 until Friday 19/6/2026.


Do you need to frame your work? Artwork must be framed and ready to hang, e.g. using D-rings for hanging. 
A stretched canvas or a board is considered framed.

What is the deadline for submissions? Your artworks should be delivered to the U3A reception between Monday 22/6/2026 to Friday 26/6/2026.

Will there be prizes awarded? Prizes will be awarded across all categories, with judging conducted by esteemed Melbourne artist Elizabeth Moore Golding. The final prize structure will be determined once all artwork registrations have been received. Awards will be distributed in accordance with the following general guidelines:

  • Major Awards: Best in Show, People’s Choice
  • Category Awards (Best, Highly Commended, and Commended): across various Medium or Theme such as Painting, Landscape, Portrait, Still Life, Contemporary, Drawing, Doodling, Ceramics, Sculpture, Craft.

Are there exclusions regarding prizes and awards? No

How and when to attend or view the Art Exhibition? The Art Exhibition is scheduled for 4 – 7 July 2026, 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. Viewing will be open to the public and will take place at our Glen Eira U3A premises during the mid-year break with the official opening by Glen Eira Mayor, Cr Dr Simone Zmood, and the presentation of prizes on Sunday, July 5 at 11:00am in the Green Room
