Senior Digital Literacy Training – are you interested?

Do you have a good knowledge and skills with computers, smart phones or iPad/Tablets, know how to use emails and search engines and would be interested in attending training to then conduct courses for our members? If the answer is yes, then this training will interest you.

Glen Eira U3A is working with the Glen Eira City Council to develop a Senior Digital Literacy Program for our members. We are looking for potential tutors who would attend “train the trainer” sessions in November/December 2023 and then be available to offer this course to our members in 2024.

The focus of the course will be “Going Online For Your Everyday Activities”. Topics will include:

  • Understanding and using a search engine
  • Online security and privacy
  • Conducting some of your everyday activities online, e.g. linking to Medicare
  • How to pay Council services online
  • Paying your utilities online
  • Banking online

If you are interested in attending training and to then conduct courses for our members in 2024, please let the Course Coordinator know by 13 November 2023. Send an email to

Glen Eira City Council – “Share your thoughts on future priorities”

The Council wants to hear your views so they strike the right balance. They want you to tell them which Council services are most important to you and how they can best fund the services you value most. Asking these questions under the banner Our Priorities, Our Future is important to help them plan and budget for providing high-quality services now and into the future.

To capture your thoughts, the Council has launched an important community survey. It’s just five questions plus some info about you, and only takes a few minutes.

Visit the Council website to participate.

Member Lunch

The next monthly members lunch, and last for 2023, will be held on Friday 17 November at 12.00. Although intended primarily for members attending class at the Glen Huntly campus on that day, all members are welcome to attend. The lunches provide an excellent opportunity to meet and socialise with your fellow members.

Garden Club

The gardening club continues to come out once a month to look after our garden. If you would like to help, please come and join us for our regular session in the garden on the third Friday of the month – our next date will be Friday 17 November from 9.00 am to 11.30.
