Monthly Update – June 2024

Welcome to the June 2024 Monthly Update.

Who Runs Glen Eira U3A?

Volunteering is about us doing things for others and for our community. For Glen Eira U3A, it’s all about our amazing volunteers because we operate solely through the dedication of these volunteers. Look no further than our 118 tutors who volunteer to conduct our many courses, discussions or activities for you, our members. Let’s also not forget our Office Volunteers, members of Volunteering at U3A Teams and Committees who assist in running our organisation.

I believe I speak on behalf of all our members when I say thank you to all our volunteers. You are valued and I am immensely respectful of, and grateful for, you and your willingness to give your time, energy, and talents. Long may it continue.

If you are not already a volunteer but would like to know more about what this entails, please leave a message for me at Reception and I will be in touch.

We Miss You & Would Love Your Feedback

We have over 1000 Active members – these are members that have paid their 2024 membership fee and are attending our many courses. We also have over 1600 Inactive members who were active in previous years but have, for whatever reason, not renewed their membership and enrolled in any courses during 2024.

Our Marketing Team, while looking towards 2025, want to identify any gaps in our engagement with Inactive members, including what other courses we may consider offering to encourage a return to Glen Eira U3A.

We stay in touch with our Inactive members via this emailed News Update and other relevant emails including, later this year, emails about 2025 enrolments. Inactive members can “unsubscribe” at any time if they so choose.

If you are an Inactive member, we are particularly interested in your feedback on these issues:

  • Why did you decide not to renew your membership?
  • What would encourage you to become active again at Glen Eira U3A?

You can email your comments and responses to us.

Tova Seelig’s Generous Donation – In Action

As part of the $500 generous donation from Tova Seelig mentioned in our May News Update, we have purchased and installed hand towel and soap dispensers for the Art Room.  This has been welcomed by the many art class members.  Thank you once again Tova for your donation.A hand with paint on it
