The Big Dig Starts May 5

Trenching for the rail line through the soon-to-be-new Glen Huntly station begins on May 5. As a result, Glen Huntly Road will be closed to traffic from Booran Road to Grange Road. More detail can be found on the Level Crossing Removal Project website.

CHANGES TO LOCAL TRAFFIC DUE TO LEVEL CROSSING REMOVAL PROJECT

Due to continued work on the removal of Glen Huntly train station, Glen Huntly Road will be closed between James Street/Manchester Grove and Grange Road, including the level crossing, from Friday 5 May to mid July 2023.

Neerim Road will be closed between Booran Road and Grange Road, including at the level crossing from Monday 29 May to late June 2023.

Please see below for changes to conditions that may impact your access to and from U3A during this period.

Travelling by foot

The Glen Huntly Road level crossing will be closed to ALL traffic until mid July. Pedestrian access will be maintained along Glen Huntly Road except at the level crossing. You wiil be able to turn left at Manchester Grove to reach the Woolworths car park and our campus. Only local traffic will be permitted between Booran Road and James Street/Manchester Grove. There will be a community shuttle bus for people wanting to cross the rail line. You will also be able to cross the railway line at Wattle Avenue. The back gate to U3A will remain open.

Travelling by tram

There will be no trams running between Glen Huntly Tram depot and Carnegie. Buses will replace Route 67 trams from Glen Huntly Tram Depot (stop 53) to Carnegie Terminus (stop 68) from Friday 5 May to mid July 2023.

Travelling by car

If you are coming to U3A by car, access to the Woolworths carpark/U3A carpark will not be impacted. Access will still be available to cars via Manchester Grove and James Street.

Travelling by train

Glen Huntly station is closed and trains are running express between Ormond and Caulfield Stations until mid 2023. A shuttle bus is operating between Caulfield and Ormond to connect passengers to train services.

Travelling by bus

Due to road works on Neerim Road and Grange Road, the Route 623 and 624 services will be diverting via Wanalta Road, Glen Huntly Road and Booran Road. Buses will not be stopping at Roseberry Grove/Neerim Road, Watson Grove/Neerim Road, Grange Road/Neerim Road or Lloyds Avenue/Neerim Road.
